The former department store and its multi-storey car park are being completely rebuilt. The structure of the two existing buildings will be softened with three large atriums to allow in natural light and ventilation. The impressively generous new atrium and apertures in individual floors will transform all inner spaces in the front part into attractive working spaces.
The centre of the ensemble will become an open, green core – visible and accessible from all sides. Several hundred workspaces will also be created in the former multi-storey car park. Maisonette offices will be established, and their open spatial structures will make them ideally suited in situations where maximum flexibility is required. The glass elements on the roof will transform the space into a greenhouse and garden landscape, inviting people to linger, relax, and enjoy their time here – while taking in the delightfully wide open spaces. A great spot for everyone who works here or just happens to be visiting.
KALLE has what all of Berln wants: That neighbourhod feel, sophitication, rich spaces for c-creation, everyday pleasures, fcused work, relaxation, eating and indulgece. Sweet, sour, alty, cream and crunchy. A place for work culture, meetings, and events – uiquely Berlnesque & cosmcultural. Beer garden or fie dining, with Berln all arund you and as far as the eye can see.
Converting the former department store into an open work area will create an incomparable atmosphere of originality and modernity – filled with interesting pathways and lines of sight.
The spaces in the multi-storey car park are bustling with originality. These unique structures and floor sizes create the spatial qualities that offer creatives exceptional opportunities to be inspired, to unfold, and to develop.
All work areas – a total of 26,000 m² across five floors – can be designed and fitted in line with the tenant’s preferred office style.
New ways of collaborating and communicating demand innovative room concepts. Berlin’s talents are always on the lookout for unusual working environments. For something different. KALLE Neukölln offers a culture that goes beyond the norm, beyond standard or cubical office structures.
The future of work is coming for everyne & KALLE has it covered: next level for ways working, down in the centre, floors 1—5, small or large scale. Collaboration – for today, tomorrow, and the future. Chracter & quality. A staement that resonates. An experence inside. Exceptinal views and ambence on a stning rooftop.
The building on Karl-Marx-Strasse 101 always played a central role in the local neighbourhood around Rathaus Neukölln and Alfred-Scholz-Platz. It was opened as Quelle- und SinnLeffers department store back in 1970, then taken over as a Karstadt department store in 2001, before later being turned into a Karstadt discount centre. Artists’ collectives, street artists and cultural festivals filled the empty building with life in recent years, inviting the neighbourhood to keep visiting.
Like other stars of bygone eras, this building is now making its comeback. Rather than demolishing this building, which has been here for more than 50 years, it will instead be transformed and opened up for contemporary uses. The charm of the original will be preserved, reinterpreted with a modern touch, and the unusual spatial structures and proportions appreciated and incorporated into new business and creative concepts.
This is a spot where a diverse range of influences mix. Old Berlin bistros, high-end modern dining culture, and more ideas moving in every month. Local, regional, Turkish, Arabic, international concepts and cuisine – these are the tastes and flavours typical of Neukölln.
Breakfast, beer, and booze. Döner, dinner, and drinks. Hearty, light, and tangy. This area has everything. And so will KALLE: The food market on the ground floor (6,000 m²) and roof garden (4,000 m²) are absolutely dedicated to delectable culinary delights.
